DishAtlas ("we", "our", or "the app") is an interactive map where users can explore dishes, drinks, desserts, and more from every country and submit personal ratings. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it is handled.

1. Who We Are

2. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service:

Email address — when you create an account, used only for authentication and account recovery.
Ratings — the star ratings (1–5) you submit for foods. These are stored against your account and may be shown as anonymised community averages to other users.
Account deletion — when you delete your account via the in-app option, your ratings and account are deleted immediately and permanently.

We do not collect your name, location, IP address, or any payment information.

3. How We Use Your Data

To authenticate you and let you submit and view your ratings.
To display anonymised community average ratings to all visitors.
To process your account deletion request when submitted.

We do not sell your data, use it for marketing, or share it with third parties beyond the services listed below.

4. Third-Party Services

Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your email address and ratings are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 Type 2 certified. See their privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.

Google AdSense — we display advertisements served by Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show personalised ads based on your browsing activity. You can opt out of personalised ads via Google's ad settings. 5. Cookies

We do not set any first-party cookies. We use browser localStorage to store your theme preference (light/dark) and your authentication session token (managed by Supabase). This data stays on your device and is cleared when you sign out or delete your account. Google AdSense sets third-party cookies for ad personalisation and measurement. You can manage or delete cookies and localStorage through your browser settings at any time.

6. Data Retention

Your account and ratings are retained for as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account, your data is removed immediately.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Delete your data — use the in-app "Delete account" option to permanently remove your account and all associated ratings immediately.
Access or correct your data — contact us at the email address above and we will assist you manually.

8. Children

This service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
